The Power of Music

While others turn a blind eye and a deaf ear to the reality of Palestine currently, brave public figures have come forward to use art as their protest, giving the popular phrase “the pen is my sword” a new meaning.

Rising artist Eddy Mack introduced his single “The Sound of War” that would leave echoes across the world. By inviting the Palestinian-American artist Batata onto the track, another layer of depth exists. The single’s potent lyrics were used in over 200,000 users on TikTok and CapCut, including some of TikTok’s highest performing influencers. Charting on Shazam in eight countries across the global, it has pulled the heartstrings of humanity.

An Artist Perspective

With Jordanian roots, Eddy Mack not only feels for the Palestinian people, but used his audience as an army during this media war, as he calls it. “For those online that feel like we don’t have the power to take a stand, I want to remind them that, yes, we can do so by using the world’s universal language: music,” Eddy shares.

“I wanted to shine a light on Palestinian supporters globally, allowing them to feel like their voice is heard and come together by using my sound in their content…this is how “The Sound of War” came to life.” — Eddy Mack

Throughout his entire career in entertainment Batata used his platform for voices of the unheard, and being of Palestinian decent, the online awakening of the masses on this issue brings out strong emotions. “This proves how one’s contribution pushes forward a domino effect…Us Palestinians are writing your supportive, brave words in stone,” Batata says. “It will not be forgotten.”

Until it’s Backwards

If people’s eyes open and their ears truly hear, they find themselves wondering how humanity can move forward when peace is walking in reverse. With media and internet blackouts overseas, the innocent rely on us as their voice and defenders. “The Sound of War” has not only awakened others, but arose the fighter in us during this “fight or flight” environment.

Quoting Eddy Mack’s infamous lyrics, free Falastin until it’s backwards:

Falastin (Palestine) is free.
